Arena of Champions is a different game

Arena of Champions is a WoW-style browser arena by jerz. It is not the Gala Games RPG, and this page does not host the installer.

What the client claims to be

The field guide, reading a 1 November 2026 client snapshot, describes nine classes, twenty-one specializations, 248 skills, 315 talents, and three maps, at version 0.23. Matches are 1v1, 2v2, and 3v3. Guests can queue. Bots exist for practice. The rendering path is a 3D WebAssembly build that wants WebGPU.

Those counts come from the field guide's reading of the client, not from a Gala document. If you typed Champions Arena looking for the turn-based mobile RPG, go back to the name index. Nothing on this page is a Gala mode.

Three domains, one game

People ask whether .live or .net is the real version. They are not two builds. .live is the entry the field guide points at. When I requested it, Cloudflare returned a challenge page, so I am not quoting homepage marketing from that host. .net states that it is a separate reference and that no game files are stored there. Its download article tells you to fetch the client from the official entry.

.io embeds .live in a frame, shows ads, and prints a line telling you to open the original if the frame fails. A wrapper is not a second ruleset.

The Windows file

The login screen offers Download for Windows and the file name reported by the field guide is ArenaOfChampions.exe. The same guide says it checked the browser download, not the installer prompts and not Windows runtime behavior. I searched for that filename next to malware, virus, and trojan, and for the .live host next to safe and virus. I found no writeup from a security lab.

So the honest status is: no public analysis, not a known-infected label, and not a safety badge. Lookalike domains are the extra hazard, because a wrapper can sit in front of the real entry.

If the match stutters, the field guide's practical list is: update the browser, turn hardware acceleration on, keep the tab in the foreground, and read the client's own compatibility line. There is still no published minimum GPU or memory.

Questions

Which domain is the game?

arenaofchampions.live is the project entry. arenaofchampions.net is a separate field guide that says it hosts no game files. arenaofchampions.io is a third-party wrapper.

Is the Windows exe malware?

I could not find a public malware report or a sandbox writeup of ArenaOfChampions.exe. That is not the same as calling the file safe. The risk on record is an unverified executable plus lookalike domains.

Why does it stutter?

The client is WebAssembly and asks for WebGPU. Browser version, GPU, drivers, and hardware acceleration all change how it feels. No minimum GPU is published.
